Things to do in Bușteni, Sinaia and Brașov
Complex Caraiman is in the center of Bușteni, two minutes from the train station. From here, Sinaia is 15 minutes by car or train, and Brașov about 45 minutes. Here is what to see in all three, with a photo for each landmark.
Bușteni
Right in town, a short walk from the hotel
Thirteen landmarks and things to do without leaving Bușteni, from waterfalls and rock formations to a castle, a monastery and a family fun park.

Bușteni
A small mountain town on the main road through the Prahova Valley, with the Bucegi cliffs rising directly above the rooftops. Everything below is within walking distance of Complex Caraiman.

Cantacuzino Castle
A Neo-Romanian style castle built in the early 20th century for the Cantacuzino family, set in a forested park just outside Bușteni, with a small museum and grounds open to visitors.

Kalinderu Slope
The main ski and sledging slope in Bușteni, right above the town, served by a chairlift with views over the Prahova Valley.

Kalinderu Fun Park
A summer adventure park next to the Kalinderu slope, with a mountain coaster, zip lines and other rides for families and children.

Urlătoarea Waterfall
The best-known waterfall near Bușteni, on a trail accessible even with children, about 40 minutes on foot from the hotel.

Bușteni Cable Car
Climbs from the edge of town up to the Bucegi plateau in around fifteen minutes, past the cliffs that tower over Bușteni.

The Bucegi Plateau
Open alpine grassland above 2,000 meters, reached by cable car or on foot, with cabins, wide views and the trailheads for Omu Peak.

Babele
A cluster of wind-eroded sandstone formations on the plateau, a short walk from the upper cable car station.

The Sphinx
The most photographed rock formation in Bucegi, shaped by wind and rain into a profile that resembles a face, a short walk from Babele.

The Heroes' Cross
A monument on Caraiman Peak, built in memory of First World War heroes, visible from the whole town at an altitude of over 2,200 m.

Cezar Petrescu Memorial House
The memorial house of writer Cezar Petrescu, with personal items and documents from the interwar period, in the center of Bușteni.

Caraiman Monastery
A working Orthodox monastery on the edge of Bușteni, with a large church and guesthouse buildings set against the forest, open to visitors.

Forest Trekking Trails
Quieter forest paths through spruce and beech woodland below the cliffs, an easier alternative to the high-mountain routes.

One base, three towns
Stay central, day-trip the rest
Complex Caraiman is on the main boulevard, two minutes from the station, an easy base for Bușteni on foot and Sinaia or Brașov by train or car. Restaurant on site for the evenings you don't feel like going out.
Sinaia
15 minutes away by car or train
Sinaia is the neighboring resort town, best known for Peleș Castle, one of the most visited landmarks in Romania.

Peleș Castle
The former royal summer residence, considered one of the most beautiful castles in Europe. Book tickets ahead on weekends and in high season.

Peleșor Castle
The residence of the crown prince, a few minutes' walk from Peleș Castle, decorated in Art Nouveau style.

Sinaia Casino
A restored early 20th century casino building in the center of Sinaia, now used for exhibitions and events, with formal gardens in front.

Sinaia Monastery
The oldest building in the resort, founded in the 17th century, right in the center of Sinaia, and the source of the town's name.
Brașov
A day trip, about 45 minutes away
Brașov and the surrounding area hold the best-known landmarks in the county, suited to a full day trip.

Council Square
The heart of the old town, lined with medieval merchant houses, cafes and the Old Council House at its center.

The Black Church
The largest Gothic church in Romania, named for the soot marks left by a 17th century fire, right by Council Square.

Bran Castle
Known internationally as Dracula's Castle, about 30 minutes from Brașov and 50 minutes from Bușteni.

Tâmpa Cable Car
A short ride up Tâmpa Hill, right above the old town, for a wide view over Brașov's red rooftops.

Rope Street (Strada Sforii)
One of the narrowest streets in Europe, a narrow passage right in the old center of Brașov.

Râșnov Citadel
A medieval peasant fortress on the road between Bușteni and Bran, with wide views over the surrounding hills.
